Community Links & News: Five Not So Random Things I’m Looking Forward To This Year

Tom Hardy In Mad Max: Fury Road

Yawn! I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation. Truth is, this blog’s inactivity over the last month is mainly because I wasn’t feeling inspired to write anything. I felt like I hit a wall and needed to consider if there was a future for this blog.

I’m grateful for your friendly support and words of encouragement. A belated and sincere Happy & Healthy New Year to all you gentle readers and fellow bloggers!

I’ll keep this post short and sweet. Here are some things I’m looking forward to in 2015, some are just based on my gut instinct.

Mad Max: Fury Road. To be honest, I’ve never seen a Mad Max film. But Tom Hardy looks so bad-ass in the above photo and I’m a sucker for gritty, action-packed post-apocalyptic movies.

• Batman: Arkham Knight.  I don’t have a next gen system yet. Maybe this is the year? Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are the best Batman games out there and I’m glad that Rocksteady Studios is making this installment of the franchise.

Game Of Thrones Season V.  Hands down my favourite show on the air. Can’t wait to see the adventures that await Arya, Tyrion and Daenerys this season.

Knights Of Cup. Okay this one may be a bit random. I might like it or I might hate it but Terrence Malick will deliver at the very least something that’s thought-provoking and epic.

• Marvel’s Daredevil: I’m not that familiar with the comics but it’s from the same show runner as Spartacus and this motion poster is a nice teaser. Love the sound of the city and heart beating.

What are you looking forward to watching, playing or reading this year?

  1. Thanks for the link – I too am really looking forward to Mad Max!

  2. I am really looking forward to Game of Thrones and Arkham Knight this year as well. I’m a little out of the loop on my Marvel movies, but I may dabble in some of the Netflix shows. I didn’t realize that Daredevil was from the guy who did Spartacus. That is a plus. And thanks for the link!

    • I’m really excited for GOT and I look forward to your episode reviews if you’re doing them again. I heard the original show runner for Daredevil went on to do Sinister Six Spider-Man spin off, so Steven DeKnight stepped up. That’s good news for me as a fan of Spartacus. You’re very welcome for the link!

  3. You should totally check out Mad Max 2… it’s AWESOME. This is what I am looking forward to: http://wherethewildthingsare14.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/my-top-10-most-anticipated-upcoming-2015-releases/

  4. Haha, I’m looking forward to Arkham Knight and Fury Road as well. I recommend watching Mad Max 2 at the very least; it’s sort of outdated, but its the most action packed (Max shoots off a lot of faces in this) and post-apocalyptic out of the original Mel Gibson trilogy. And thanks for linking to my 2014 post!

    • Haha, Max shooting off a lot of faces eh, … sounds like my kind of movie haha. I heard Mel Gibson became famous with the Mad Max role, I should really catch up in time for Fury Road. You’re very welcome for the link, I know you put a lot of time into your 2014 post!

  5. Howdy there friend! Thought for a moment you’d dropped off the planet permanently. Glad to see you’re around and alive. Belated happy new year to you too man, hope you hada good transition into 2015.

Also for your top 5 things you’re looking forward to, I’m liking it. Mad Max: Fury Road looks badass especially after that last trailer, that jumped into my top 5 list for sure. I too am look forward to Arkham Knight, that game looks insane, after E3 last year I was like “I NEED THIS GAME!” Game of Thrones at this point is a given, are you going to be doing reviews for eahc episode again? And finally Daredevil I have a lot of hope for, but I need a trailer.

P.S. I wonder if you’ve seen any of Agent Carter yet and if so what do you think of it? I need someone to discuss this with haha! Also if you’re available please read my review and we discuss things further.

    • Hello my friend! haha, yeah I’m still kicking around. I truly wish you all the best for 2015 and happy blogging. 🙂

You know, I don’t think I’ve even seen the trailer yet for Fury Road, I just have a very good feeling about that movie haha. Arkham Knight is going to be EPIC, it’s coming out in June but if I get a new gaming system it’ll probably be during Holiday time (I guess I”m pretty patient lol).

I saw you posted your Agent Carter review and I’ll definitely drop by to discuss. So far I’ve watched the first episode. So far so good.

  6. Happy New Year! I like the first two Mad Max films so will check out the new one, Fury Road to see what its like. Like you, I haven’t got a next gen system yet, but as I like the Arkham games, Arkham Knight might tempt me to get one. Love GOT as well, so really looking forward to that series returning.

    • Happy New Year Paul! So far I’ve played the first two Arkham games and they are both fantastic. love the gadgets. The 10 month wait for new GOT is getting shorter, just a few months to go. Can’t wait! 🙂

  7. No Blogs during Dec either; guess it’s th ol’ end-of-year-burn-out
    Anyway, Happy New Year!
Come & see if this is awesome:

    Cheers!

  8. You need to see The Road Warrior (aka Mad Max 2). I’d recommend checking it out before you see Mad Max: Fury Road. It should make for an interesting comparison since George Miller is directing the new one and pulling a lot from the style of his earlier film.

    • Hello Dan, I’ll definitely take up your recommendation to watch The Road Warrior before Fury Road. Oh cool, I didn’t know it’s from the same director. Always great to hear from. I stop by your site from time to time and enjoy your writing, if I don’t comment it’s usually because I can’t think of anything to add to the conversation. 😀

  9. thanks fro the shoutout Eddie!

  10. Thanks for the link! The dearth of decent t.v. shows, movies, books, etc. that occurs every November thru mid to late January is certainly anti inspirational. So, I’m happy to read you’ll continue posting since I enjoy your blog.
I’ve seen the original Mad Max movie more times than I care to admit. So Fury Road will be interesting to see.
The next season of GoT will be a welcome return. I’m also looking forward to the next Avengers movie, the next season of Vikings on the History channel, the next Stephen King book that’s due in June, and the return of Da Vinci’s Demons.
Here’s to hoping the coming months offer more inspiration 🙂

    • You’re welcome for the link, glad to give your post a shout out! Nice to know a fellow blogger enjoys my blog. I have some draft reviews in the works, that should come out over the next few weeks.

I really do have to see the original Mad Max too, I think it’s been on TV quite a bit but I’ve never stopped to watch it.

I’ve heard some good things about Vikings, I’ll have to add it to my watch list. I know you’re a huge Stephen King fan, you must be very excited for June. 🙂 Thanks so much, just having people comment on this post is giving me motivation to keep this blog going.

  11. Thanks for the link. GO 2015!!!

  12. Thanks so much for the link, very kind!

I look forward to Marvel’s Daredevil too, though I actually haven’t seen the Ben Affleck version but I think it’s best that I avoid that one, ahah.

  13. You’re very welcome for the link!

Haha, yeah Affleck’s version could have been so much better, you’re not missing anything special haha. Cool, nice to see other people looking forward to the new Daredevil.

  14. Thanks a bunch for the shout out!

As for what I’m anticipating the most:

#1 2015 Video Game: Arkham Knight
#1 2015 Movie: Avengers – Age of Ultron
    #1 2015 TV Show – Daredevil

Yes, I know my list is pretty predictable. 🙂

    • You’re very welcome for the shout out!

Great picks! For 2015 movies, I’m most excited about Age Of Ultron (to keep my post short I left it out). Yeah, and I’m pretty pumped for Daredevil too! 🙂

  15. I’m hoping the Daredevil release will be better than the one from the 2000s. It was a good movie, but it needed–I don’t know how to describe it–ooph? Yeah, ooph! Looking forward to it this time around.

  16. Knight of Cup? the title is very intriguing. I hope you will review it.

  17. Cheers man, thanks so much for the link! My apologies on the delayed response here. I myself am going through a bit of blogging burn-out. I’ve been debating taking an extended time away from the computer for a bit, I’m wrestling with that idea as we speak.

I think it will largely depend on how good the first couple of months of this year go. If i establish a pattern like last year, and realize that this year is almost identical to last and the one before it, then I won’t feel any guilt of taking some time off. Some patterns are good in life, some are not. I’d hate to think I’m falling into a rut with movie blogging. Talking about movies is always something I want to remain passionate about and not feel like i’m becoming a drone. which is what I currently am feeling like. lol

    • Hey buddy, you’re very welcome for the link! No worries at all. I think it’s pretty amazing how many bloggers are dedicated in keeping their blogs active with quality content.

Yeah, I think it is pretty important to keep that passion and fun, without it blogging can feel like a chore. Sometimes it’s good to take a break to recharge the batteries so to speak. If you do decide take some time off, know that the people you’ve really connected with will come back when you return. 🙂

  18. Thanks for the shoutout! I always enjoy reading your blog, and I’m looking forward to your posts in 2015! 🙂

  19. Thanks so much for the link! I’m really hoping first Thrones trailer drops soon.
